§ 22-237. Established; name; purposes; effective date.

  • A retirement system is hereby established and placed under the management of the Pension Board for the purpose of providing retirement allowances and retirement incomes and survivor benefits under the provisions of this division for employees of the police department of the City. It shall be operated for the exclusive benefit of its participants and their beneficiaries. It shall be known as the "1970 Supplemental Police Officer's Retirement System of the City." The retirement system shall begin operation as of October 1, 1970. It is intended to be a governmental plan as defined in code section 414(d), and shall be operated accordingly.
