Article IV. STOPPING, STANDING AND PARKING |
§ 26-164. Installation, maintenance and operation of parking pay stations.
(a)
Where necessary for the public convenience, necessity and safety, the POD is authorized to install or place parking pay stations in such parking pay station zones as may be designated by the POD. The POD shall also determine the parking spaces within the parking pay station zones to be provided within park pay stations. Parking pay stations shall be conveniently placed to serve the parking spaces within the parking pay station zones. The POD shall, through appropriate placement of the parking pay station, and/or signage, notify the vehicle operator as to which parking pay station serves which parking space.
(b)
The POD shall provide for the installation, regulation, control, operation and use of the parking pay stations provided for in this section and shall maintain the parking pay stations in good, workable condition.
(c)
Each of the parking pay stations shall be so set as to issue a receipt or display a signal showing legal parking upon the deposit of authorized legal tender therein for a period of time conforming to such parking limit as may be provided by ordinance, resolution or administrative schedule determined by the POD or for such part of such period of time as may be designated upon or adjacent to the parking pay station according to the amount of authorized legal tender deposited. Each parking pay station shall by its device clearly set out in receipt form the time of the deposit and the expiration time of the legal parking limit or such part of the legal parking limit time as shall be permitted for the deposit. In the alternative, the parking pay station, rather than providing such a receipt, may display the time remaining until the expiration of the legal parking limit or such part of the legal parking limit as shall be permitted by the deposit.
