§ 7-1. Definitions.
The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
Boat ramp means a designated area used for launching and retrieving vessels or watercraft.
City waters means all waters or waterways located within the limits of the City.
Commercial vessel means the same as defined in F.S. § 327.02.
Docked means that a vessel is or has been secured to a dock, for any length of time.
Docking pay station means a mechanical or electronic device which regulates docking in one or more dock slips by allocating a defined period of time for docking in exchange for a defined amount of money.
40th Avenue Bridge means the bridge on 40th Avenue Northeast which crosses over Placido Bayou onto Shore Acres.
Operate means to navigate or otherwise use a vessel.
Operator means a person who is in actual physical control of the vessel upon the water or while docking.
Owner means a person who holds legal title of a vessel or is the lessee of a vessel.
Pier or dock means a structure or platform which extends from the shore or seawall into the water and can be used for the purpose of securing, loading or unloading a vessel or watercraft or for fishing.
Shore Acres Bridge means the bridge which connects Overlook Drive Northeast and Snell Isle Boulevard Northeast and crosses Smacks Bayou.
Snell Isle Bridge means the bridge which crosses Coffee Pot Bayou and connects Snell Isle Boulevard to Coffee Pot Boulevard.
Swim means to swim, stand, wade or be in the water or use the water for any recreational purpose.
Vessel means any boat (see chapter 16) or watercraft designed for water travel, including, but not limited to, any kayak, canoe, boat, motorboat, or watercraft being propelled or powered by machinery, air or human power and designed for water travel and includes personal watercraft such as, but not limited to, jet skis, waverunners, wavejammers and other similar one or two person vessels being propelled or powered by machinery, and air boats.
Wharf or wharves means docks, piers, boat ramps and other designated areas used for the purpose of launching, retrieving, loading or unloading watercraft or for other activities primarily related to boating.
